Dr. K.V.Achalapathi is a retired Professor of Commerce from Osmania University with 40 years of teaching experience in India, Africa and in Middle East Countries. He is born in 1956 at Hyderabad, had his middle school Education at Palem, and Intermediate Education at Nagarkunul Mahbubnagar. He worked in OU PG Centre Mahbubnagar for 21 years during 1988-2009. During his tenure as Principal (1993-2001), the college is moved from rented building Christianpally to a permanent building at Bandamedipally and MBA and MCA were introduced and the PG centre Mahbubnagar was standing number 1 in academic performance throughout Telangana among 8 PG Centres. He has more than 55 research publications including 10 International publications to his credit.
He visited USA, Paris, London, Oman, Ethiopia, Kenya and Nepal on academic assignments. 11 scholars are awarded PhD; another 6 are presently working for their PhD. 5 students are awarded M.Phil under his research supervision. Some of them are working in Institutions like IIMs and Foreign Universities. He has to his credit a Major Research Project on “Implications of IFRS for Corporate Reporting Practices in India” under the sponsorship of University Grants Commission, Ministry of Human Resources Development Government of India. He is awarded ‘Best Teacher’ by the Integrated Government of Andhra Pradesh during 2005.
He is the Past President of Indian Accounting Association, past Chairman Board of Studies in Commerce, OU, Head, Department of Commerce and past Dean Faculty of Commerce OU. He was Dean Faculty of Commerce, Palamuru University. He conducted an International Conference on “Implications of IFRS on Corporate Reporting Practices” during March 13-15, 2015. He is a member of HMA. He has been active in HMA since 2012 and received ‘Best HMA Member’ award during 2016-17. He was the Coordinator for Student Development Programs of HMA and conducted more than 20 programs in affiliated colleges in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He was holding the post of Director, Directorate of Placement Services, Osmania University Hyderabad by the time retirement. He established link with more than 45 industry representatives for annual placements to the non-engineering students while holding the office of Director.
After superannuating from Osmania University in the year 2016, He is heading a skill development institute by name, “Dhanwantari Institute of Science and Technology” on honorary basis in Hyderabad. “Empowering the youth with Employability skills through value based education is the motto for which he is actively working after retirement. He is also the Secretary and Correspondent Dhanvantari’s Sri Chaitanya Degree and PG College Mahbubnagar. He has been active in giving webinars and rendered more than 10 webinars in different topics at National and International level for the last 6 months and prepared more than 25 videos in the subject of Accountancy and Statistics for the benefit of B. Com students and placed them in YouTube without charging any fee during the lockdown period.
